Students study homelessness first-hand

A group of University of Calgary students is hoping work outside the classroom will lead to some great results.

They’re joining up with The Mustard Seed to study homelessness in Calgary

The University’s Erin Kypenin tells 660News, the purpose is to promote an understanding of poverty in Calgary and to prepare students to be active students in their community.

Nineteen students are taking part. They’ll be exploring issues like the cost of living and the relationship between health and homelessness.

Byron Bradley with the Seed’ says the program provides students with ‘inner city experience’ that helps open the eyes of challenges in our own backyard.
