West Village development scares alderman

One Alderman says the makeover of the city’s downtown west side is a multi-million dollar gamble.

$700-million dollars worth of improvements are slated for the West Village stretching along 11th Avenue southwest to Crowchild Trail.

Alderman Joe Connelly tells the Calgary Sun, using the East Village model before it is proven could be a costly mistake.

But Alderman Brian Pincott says the city can’t wait 15 years to make sure the East Village is a success before going ahead on the West Village project.
