Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier has announced this will be his last term.
Calgary’s 35th mayor announced at the State of the City address, he is not running for re-election in October.
Bronconnier says there’s never a good time to resign, but he feels he’s largely accomplished the goals he set out in 2001 when he took the job and believes now is a good time to move on.
He calls the announcement an open invitation to Calgarians but warns his successor will have to have a real vision, passion and desire to serve the public.
Bronconnier says he’ll spend the next 237 days focused primarily on repairing Calgary’s dysfunctional relationship with the province.
