Racing complex selling land

The developers of a horse racing track north of Calgary are selling some of their land to pay off creditors.

The owners of the Balzac race track are selling about 11 and a half hectares, but they’re hanging onto a key section of property.

That parcel will be saved for a small race track, some barns, 650 slot machines and off track betting sites.

The economic downturn put the lid on the original plans to build a massive racing and entertainment complex.

The track developers filed for creditor protection last September.
