Several recommendations from an inquest into the beating death of a 77-year-old man by his roommate at a seniors centre in Calgary.
The inquiry recommends removing objects that can be used as weapons from rooms, doing behaviour analysis on residents for two weeks after a violent outburst, and more face-to-face communication between staff members.
James Cairns was beaten to death by his 81-year-old roommate in April 2007.
He was hit in the head with a steel foot rest from a wheelchair.
