NHL Deadline Day looms

The Olympic hockey buzz is still wearing off for fans, but they’re in for another jolt of adrenaline.

Wednesday is the NHL trade deadline.

Globe and Mail columnist Bruce Dowbiggin tells 660news, it’s hard to say if we’ll see any blockbuster deals.  “Most general managers know the trade deadline deals that you make generally aren’t ones that win you a Stanley cup.  It rarely equates to that.  I think the key thing we’ll be looking for is teams trying to get rid of big contracts.”

He says the Flames could move players with hefty salaries, throwing out the names of Damond Langkow and Cory Sarich.

John Down with the Calgary Herald tells 660news it’s unlikely the Flames will make a big move.

He says a couple teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, are shopping hard for defencemen.

Down says you can just about bank on at least one big deal on trade day.
