Carpooling expected to rise in Calgary

There may be a lot more Calgarians carpooling in the coming years and the catalyst may be construction of the west LRT line.

The director of Carpool.ca tells the Calgary Sun, she’s hoping major delays sparked by the newest C-Train line will inspire people to buddy up.

Anne Marie Thornton says if people use their cars more efficiently, meaning more people per car, it will reduce the overall congestion on city streets.

Thorton says they’ll monitor the number of people who live in the affected areas and register for the website in the coming months, to see how this affects their desire to drive.
