Final arguments in N.W. hit-and-run

Final arguments are expected today in the trial of a Calgary woman accused of hitting a police officer two years ago with her Jeep.

Tina Hayne maintains she didn’t know she hit anyone.

The Calgary Herald reports that Hayne thought it was a construction worker, not a cop, who stepped out in front of her vehicle on Stoney Trail N.W.

She testified Tuesday she thought the person was stepping into her lane, so she swerved around him.

The 47-year-old is on trial for dangerous driving causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and hit and run.

Const. Kelly Todd suffered a sore back in the collision.
