Design for St. Patrick’s footbridge unveiled

The design for the new St. Patrick’s footbridge has been unveiled.

The Calgary Municipal Land Corporation has named local company Halsall Associates Limited and RFR out of France as the winning design team who will build the new pedestrian bridge to St. Patrick’s Island.

The decision was made after months of consideration and ongoing public consultation.

The new bridge will be a lower profile, arched structure emulating a stone skipping across the bow river.

It will also feature animated lighting.

The bridge will replace the existing one, and will link St. Patrick’s Island to the East Village and Bridgeland.

It’s estimated to cost $25 million.
