Gas prices up in Calgary

A bit of a surprise for drivers today, who pulled into a service station to top up their tanks.

Some pump prices in the city are up 6 cents a litre today.

Michael Ervine with MJ Ervine and Associates tells 660News, the increase was not unexpected, given the fact, that winter is in the rear view mirror.

Ervine says a number of refinery’s are scaling back their production right now for maintainance ahead of the summer driving season.

Moving forward Ervine doesn’t expect drivers will see big price hikes in the coming months, predicting prices will only rise by 10 to 15 cents a litre at most.
