It’s the biggest ‘green’ event ever to hit Calgary.
After a successful day on Saturday, the Go Green Expo continues Sunday at the Stampede Grounds from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The event brings together the greenest programs, products and services under one roof.
Calgary’s had a less-than-stellar track record when it comes to green energy, but organizers are hoping the event will help change that.
Tanya Williams with the Expo tells 660News the event will also show people it’s easier than they may think to make a difference environmentally.
“It’s literally one step. It’s anything from changing a light bulb to stopping your plastic bags. It’s so simple and shows Calgarians every option that they have,” she says.
The Expo features a massive electronics recycling centre, an eco-friendly fashion show and an organic farmer’s market.
There are also organic and vegan cooking demonstrations and the chance to learn how easy and accessible organic options are in the Calgary area.
Williams says the event is for the whole family with the Evergreen Theatre Kids Zone featuring hands on activities to educate kids of all ages about endangered species and bio-diversity.
Since the event is about being green, Calgarians can bring in an empty beverage container and get $1.00 off admission, courtesy of Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation, the official beverage recycling partner of the show.
The Calgary Go Green Expo will also feature the Samsung Recycling Direct program.
The program allows consumers to bring in any electronic device or wireless phone to the show to be recycled.
