A volunteer with Calgary-based Pound Rescue tells the Calgary Sun, he was disturbed to see the stressed state of many animals when he went up to the auction this weekend.
This year, the auction brought in 250 goats and sheep, 50 llamas, and many miniature horses and donkeys.
The auction’s assistant manager says they try to make sure only legitimate buyers are bidding.
The event has been held every Easter and Thanksgiving for the past three decades and has a solid track record, complying with the SPCA.
