Pharmacists in Calgary say it’s becoming harder for drug thieves to access Oxycontin.
After a string of heists around the city over the past year, pharmacies are now tightening up their practices.
Todd Gehring is a pharmacist who was robbed at knife-point for Oxycontin last year, tells the Calgary Sun that there’s a heightened awareness in the local pharmaceutical community.
Gehring says they’re a lot more careful in reducing the amount Oxycontin on-hand.
Gehring adds that pharmacies are also now keeping the drug in safes that only open five minutes after being activated.
