Flames get to work on long off-season

No one is being fired. Not yet, anyway.

Now that a disappointing season for the Calgary Flames is officially in the books, the club is starting the process of figuring out what went wrong.

President Ken King and General Manager Darryl Sutter met with the media on Monday to outline their plans.

The club’s brass is going to take the next two to three weeks to assess every player, coach and member of the Flames’ management team.

Darryl Sutter believes the main problem this year was the club’s poor home record.
He believes that the team is still good on paper, but needs some players to rebound next year.

Sutter’s performance as General Manager will be assessed, but King says “if it is necessary to sacrifice someone to sell tickets than they’ll have to get someone else to sell tickets.”

Both Sutter and King dismissed rumors that captain Jarome Iginla could be traded in the off-season.
