Oilpatch earnings season kicks off

A couple of Calgary energy giants will declare their first quarter hauls in the next two days.

Husky and Encana will kick off an earnings season full of mixed results for our province’s oilpatch.

Husky’s results are expected to show modest year-over-year improvements in the wake of the recession and Encana will follow with its own release Wednesday.

First Energy Capital tells The Calgary Herald the gas behemoth will probably show lower profits, because natural gas producers are suffering through lackluster prices.

Oil and gas research firm Salman Partners says a recovery for gas prices is years and not months away.
