Residents asked to reduce water use

A potential water shortage has the City of Calgary Water Services asking residents in the city’s north, and people in Airdrie, to cut back.

Maintenance and inspection work on a feeder line has created the possible shortage.

Paul Fesko with Water Services tells 660News the city is asking people to especially put off outdoor watering.  He says that shouldn’t be a problem because rain is in the forecast for Thursday.

If possible, he asks that residents also reduce the water they use, indoors, as well.

The request will be in effect for the next 48 hours as the work continues.

Fesko says residents should not be concerned about the quality of drinking water.
