Weather bad for Calgary’s image

Blame Mother Nature for Calgary only ranking 27th on a list of the best places to live in Canada.

MoneySense magazine’s fifth annual list put Ottawa-Gatineau at number one, based on factors including prosperity, house prices and weather.

Editor Duncan Hood tells 660news, Calgary finished further down the list than our northern provincial rival. “Edmonton ranked at number 16th.  They did come out ahead of you.  This is the fifth year we have done this rank, and I think Edmonton has always come in ahead of you, at least for the last few years.”

He says the biggest down sides for Calgary are the number of days per year when the temperature dips below zero and the relatively high price of housing here.

Lethbridge ranked eleventh on the MoneySense list of most livable Canadian cities.
