Project Butterfly launched by Calgary shelter and salon

The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is teaming up with SFM Lifestyle Salon and Spa for Project Butterfly.

The idea is to provide gently worn clothing, job skills and interview skills to the women in the shelter so they can successfully enter the workforce.

Salon owner Daniel Lewis tells 660News the spa is providing hair and makeup services for the women to help boost their confidence when they go to interviews.

He says they’re trying to bring together resources that were working separately to help these women, in order to help them create new futures for themselves and their children.

The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter services 12,000 clients each year.
