Changes coming to downtown LRT platforms

A couple of CTrain stations will be closing Monday as part of the downtown LRT facelift.

The 3rd Street station will be permanently closed, while the City Hall location will be rebuilt as part of the 7th Ave. LRT Refurbishment.

The project will feature two new twinned CTrain platforms, constructed on both sides of 7th Avenue between Macleod Trail and 3rd Street SE.

This is all to accommodate four-car trains and make the area more pedestrian-friendly.

The Olympic Plaza and the Centre Street CTrain stations are suggested alternatives until the new platforms open in June of 2011.
