City police handed out some hardware Tuesday night during their third annual Calgary Police Commission Community Policing Awards Gala.
The awards are designed to give recognition to Calgarians for their contributions to community policing and a safe city. Awards were given to one individual and two groups.
First, Calgarian Fran Barnes was honoured for her dedication and commitment to helping those in mental health and crisis programs.
Next, the Calgary Youth and Justice Society, who educate youths on how to stay away from the justice system and a life of crime, received an award.
Thirdly, the Victim Assistance Support Teams were honoured, for their on-call assistance to victims of crime and tragedy.
The dinner is a chance for community associations and cultural groups to learn more about community policing from the police commission.
