Efforts to contain an oil leak from a ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico are running into some snags.
Ice-like crystals have formed inside the containment box, plugging a hole where oil was supposed to be siphoned up to the surface.
British Petroleum CEO Doug Suttles says that although it’s too early to say the box has failed, it’s definitely a setback in the efforts to stem the flow of oil that has spread to the Mississippi delta.
Company officials say it will be at least Monday before they decide what to do next in the Gulf of Mexico.
