Protesters rally to support pot activist Marc Emery

Pro-pot protesters gathered outside the Harry Hayes building in downtown Calgary Saturday afternoon.

The group was rallying in support of activist Marc Emery, who was extradited to the United States on Thursday.

He was deported for selling cannabis seeds across the border from within Canada and faces up to Five years in prison.

About eight police officers kept an eye on the dozen or so demonstrators carrying signs and waving Canadian cannabis flags.

They say their message is simple:  free Marc Emery.

The founder of the Calgary 420 Cannabis Community tells 660News the demonstration is to provide the public with information and facts, not opinions.

The demonstration is one of 80 being held around the world, seven of them right here in Alberta.
