City police are crediting a couple of Calgarians with collaring a suspect wanted in connection with a string of smash and grabs.
It happened after two more robberies Saturday night. First, a stolen car smashed into the front doors of the Glenmore Pool building and then about 15 minutes later, police say the same car was driven into a hair salon at the Riverbend Shopping Centre.
But Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660 News that was the end of the line for the suspect.
He says two men at a nearby drug store heard the commotion and jumped into action. They held the struggling man until police arrived.
As it turns out, the pair who collared the suspect happen to be the husband and son of a police officer in District Six. Charges are now pending against the suspect.
