City financial probes on hold

More than half a dozen financial audits have been put on hold at city hall. This comes just weeks before a performance review of the audit office itself.
The delay has some aldermen concerned. The Calgary Sun reports, the outstanding audits include the Pine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, a fire facilities probe and another into city car allowances.
Alderman Brian Pincott, who chairs the audit committee, says the audit department has fallen short of expectations and the audits underway have to be completed.
This comes after City Auditor Tracy McTaggart recently alleged that city hall processes did not adequately protect taxpayers from fraud.
That accusation outraged several aldermen, who asked McTaggart to provide further proof.
