Burrows proposes new pay system

A mayoral candidate wants to revolutionize the way Calgarians pay for services.

Craig Burrows says if he’s the one occupying the mayor’s chair come this fall, he’ll push for a smart card system to pay for things like transit fares, parking, rec centre access and pet licensing.

He tells the Calgary Sun he wants to make it easier for people to access city services, while reducing costs at city hall.

The idea is loosely based on a similar system currently being used in Hong Kong.
