Woman acquitted in deadly crash

A 27-year-old woman has been found not guilty of causing a deadly crash just west of Calgary back in 2007.

Two passengers died while three were seriously injured in the single-vehicle crash.

One of those injured was paralyzed from the chest down.

Destiny Erika Bird was acquitted on all six offences because witnesses could not clearly identify who was driving.

All seven people in the Dodge Caravan at the time had been drinking. Six were thrown from the vehicle and empty beer cans and vodka bottles were found strewn all over the ditch where the van landed during the crash.
