Hundreds of residents of a northeast community are finally allowed to return home, following a massive gas leak in Saddleridge.
Atco crews have finally managed to seal a major gas leak
253 homes had to be evacuated and 120 had their gas shut-off because of the problem.
The fire department and Atco crews were called out before 3 p.m. Wednesday after a backhoe working in the vicinity of 88 Avenue and Saddlecrest Boulevard punctured the line.
Roads in the area were blocked off, while crews scrambled for most of the afternoon to get the leak sealed.
Fire fighters and Atco crews will now go door to door in the area to assist residents in getting back in their homes and make sure all of their gas appliances are re-lit and functioning properly.
It took crews over three hours to shut off the leak.
