If you plan on going for a hike this weekend, the province has just unveiled a useful new tool.

A map of the province’s Rocky Mountain Region was released Friday with the most up-to-date and comprehensive look at the area’s approved trails.

Spokesperson Andrea Collins tells 660News the free maps are available at most visitor information centres.

The new map is part of an initiative to produce 16 comprehensive guides of Alberta’s approved trails.

A map of northeast Alberta was the first of the 16 to be released.
