Stamps look to get back to the Grey Cup

The road to the 2010 Grey Cup begins Sunday as Stampeder’s training camp opens up with two-a-day workouts at McMahon Stadium.

The Stamps will be looking for a return to the big game this year after a one-year absence with the core of the Grey Cup-winning team in 2008 of Henry Burris, Joffrey Reynolds, Nick Lewis and Ken-Yon Rambo still intact.

Head coach John Hufnagel is also back on the sidelines, looking to build on his impressive 23-12-1 regular season record over the last two years with the team.

But he says heading into this year’s camp, they have to deal with the retirements of Jeff Pilon, Brett Ralph and now Jesse Newman.

“It’s not what you want, but it is what it is and at this time we have to just move forward and make the players that we have better.”

The Stamps play two pre-season games in Edmonton on June 13 and then home to the Riders on June 20.
