Police are using a violent break-and-enter early Sunday morning to illustrate how important it is for Calgarians to keep their homes secure during warm summer nights.
A woman was assaulted in her Lake Bonavista home after an offender got in through an open window.
The victim confronted the offender, but was knocked unconscious.
Duty inspector James Hardy tells 660News people need to ensure windows and doors are locked during the night.
“We’ve had several break-and-enters throughout the city where offenders have gotten through lower doors or windows that have been left open to allow air to come in to keep the houses cool.”
The victim suffered only minor injuries.
She was transported to Rockyview General Hospital for observation.
