Commercial rent getting cheaper

Owning a store front in Calgary is getting a lot more affordable.

The latest Colliers International survey of premier street front rents shows rates in this city have plunged 25 per cent in the past year.

That’s the biggest drop of any major Canadian city.

Businesses along 17th Avenue SW paid an average lease rate of $73.50 per square foot this spring. That’s compared to Paris’ Champs-Elysees where a single foot of space goes for $1,182 dollars.
