Bankruptcies in Alberta rise and fall

It’s a good news bad news situation for bankruptcies in Alberta.

Provincially in March there were 776 Albertans claiming  insolvency, a 22 per cent jump from February.

While that sounds bad, the year-over-year numbers are much more encouraging.

There was an 18 per cent drop in the number of bankruptcies from March 2009 to March 2010.

In the same month last year there were 951 filings.
