Union delegates are recommending new contract proposals to nurses in the province.
A mediator’s recommendations include no wage increase for Alberta’s nurses for the next two years and a four percent increase in the 3rd year.
Union president, Heather Smith tells 660News she wants to approve the deal because it will stabilize the work force and wages will go up.
Alberta Health Services is urging the board of directors to approve the deal as well and has also agreed to hire 70 percent of all graduates from nursing programs in the province.
The more than 24,000 nurses in the province have until June 30th to accept or reject the deal.
