Calgary’s office vacancy rate in the core could hit 20 per cent in the next few years.
A report by commercial real estate services firm Cushman and Wakefield says some 7.5 million square feet of space should come on line in 2012.
That includes Encana’s new Bow building.
The report says despite the rising rate, optimism is still strong in Calgary’s downtown office towers, because world economies are recovering and resource demand is picking up.
