There’s been another complaint about 911 service in Calgary.
Investigators are looking into a June 8th incident at the Chinook School of Music, where a man allegedly exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl.
The child ran to a staff member for help who immediately called 911.
The operator asked if it was a life or death situation, when the staffer replied, “no”, the dispatcher told her to hang up and call the non-emergency police line.
The Calgary Police Association says this is the fourth in a series of problem 911 calls and John Dooks tells CTV they are frustrated with the service.
“Whether it’s officer safety or public safety, these are identifiable mistakes that we can prevent,” he says.
The call centre’s rules state, the operator should have asked if a crime was in progress and immediately dispatched police.
Investigators didn’t arrive on scene for another hour and 45 minutes.
