Emergency officials say the flood situation is improving in Lethbridge.
Crews were scrambling on Saturday when the flooding peaked. At the height of it, the flow rate of the Oldman River was 2200 cubic metres per second. Since then, it’s been receding and is now sitting around 800.
The Deputy Chief of Lethbridge Fire and EMS tells 660News the break is much needed.
“We have a bit of breathing room and there was supposed to be 30mm of rain today so we’re just keeping an eye on it and just more or less monitoring the situation at this point,” says Cody Gundlock.
He says this is a good chance for them to get everything under control and start the clean up.
The rain will continue through tomorrow but it’s not expected to make matters worse.
Officials expect there may be some minor flooding but nothing like what happened over the weekend.
