Businesses suffering due to LRT work

Although the west leg of the LRT is well on track to be completed on time, some businesses along 17th Ave southwest are suffering.

It’s a ghost town for three stores that are part of one building. The sidewalk and roads are closed in front of the establishments and LRT construction is taking up much of the parking lot.

Area alderman Joe Connelly tells CTV that the city wanted to purchase the building, but the paperwork fell through the cracks.

Connelly adds, the city is now negotiating with the owner to purchase the building but says it’s unclear how long that will take.
