The City of Calgary is looking at the idea of setting up a cab queue downtown.
Cabs have been flooding the downtown core since an exclusive airport contract went to Associated Cabs last month.
City Traffic Manager Troy Macleod tells the Calgary Sun they’ve been working with the industry to create a site where cabs could queue up for customers.
He says they’re also looking to increase the current 55 taxi stands by six, for a total of 61 stands.
The Vice President of Checker Cabs says many drivers are being forced to pay to wait for customers in the parking areas or face fines if they don’t.
He likes the idea of creating a cab queue and welcomes any additional spots downtown.
