Money for clean energy

The federal government is pumping $4.5 million into a local clean energy project.

Great Northern Power is getting the funding for it’s effort to convert waste heat from industrial engines into power.

Environment Minister Jim Prentice says the money is important for both the environment and the economy.

“Our government continues to invest in projects that reflect our balanced approach to reducing emissions,” said Prentice. “These projects will create high-quality jobs for Canadians now, and provide us with a healthier environment and sustainable prosperity in the future.”

The grant is part of over $40 million the government is giving to 18 clean energy projects across the country.
