World Cup fever hits local venues

Calgary pubs and restaurants were at full capacity packed with people in orange or navy blue jerseys cheering for their respective teams.

660News reporter Kristin Bibik took in the game at a downtown pub and depending on whom she asked, some fans were either ecstatic, others not so much.

The Dutch fans, however, accepted their team’s loss graciously and some were even too emotional to talk, but some said Spain deserved to win.

As for fans of Spain, it was an incredible history-making moment for the team.

Following the game, Spaniards walked and drove along 17th Avenue S.W. with a sense of pride that they had never had the chance to experience before until this, their very first World Cup win.
