RCMP are asking people across western Canada to be on alert for anything that might help them find a missing elderly couple from St. Albert.
77-year-old Marie Ann McCann and her 78-year-old husband Lyle Thomas McCann were last seen on July 3rd buying gas in St. Albert, as they left town to go to visit family in B.C.
When they didn’t arrive at a pre-arranged meeting place with family on Saturday, they were reported missing.
Their son Bret says he wants his parents to know that their family is looking hard for them.
RCMP say a burned out RV found at a campground near Edson on July 5th was the couple’s, but the McCanns weren’t in it.
The search is focused on the couple’s vehicle, a light green Hyundai Tucson with Alberta licence plate ZPK 289.
That’s because the McCanns were towing it behind their motorhome, but when the burned out RV was found, the vehicle wasn’t there with it.
“We firmly believe that this vehicle is out there somewhere,” says RCMP Seargeant Patrick Webb. “Some member of the public may have information, may know where this is, may have seen it in the past and we’re interested in speaking to those people just to get that little piece of information which may prove to be so important.”
Officers are interviewing witnesses who were at the campground, but there’s no evidence the McCanns were ever there.
Anyone who may have seen the motorhome before July 5th is also being asked to call RCMP.
