The province has started issuing flood relief cheques to residents hit by intense rainstorms in southern Alberta last month.
Flood relief registration centres have submitted more than 1,900 applications over the past week.
Some Albertans have been critical over how long it has taken to get relief cash compared with flood victims in Saskatchewan.
Tim Chander, a spokesman with Municipal Affairs, tells 660News some residents in Saskatchewan may have received $3,000 in advance, but the two provinces run very different relief programs.
He says in Saskatchewan residents have to have all of their renovations completed before they get the full amount they are eligible for. He adds, in Alberta, residents get all of cash after their assessment so residents can start and complete the work.
The flooding registration centres have now closed in southeastern Alberta, but residents can still apply for disaster relief cash through their municipality.
The government has earmarked up to $200-m for flood relief in the area. The province hopes to have all the cheques sent out by the end of the summer.
