Summer vacation might continue for thousands of youngsters in Calgary, but it’s business as usual at the two companies that service school bus contracts.
Just like every other summer, the help wanted sign is going up at local school bus companies.
Over the next five weeks First Student and Southland Transportation need to hire and train close to 200 drivers.
Wayne Scaddin with First Student Canada tells 660News they need to find 50 to 60 drivers.
He says there are a number of reasons for people leaving the company, including finding full time work or a spouse being transferred to another city.
Natasha Gleiser with Southland Corporation says they need to find 125 drivers.
Both firms are confident they will be able to fill their job openings with retirees, moms and people who don’t want full time work.
The jobs pay about $90 a day.
