Fire destroys Airdrie house

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a blaze that destroyed a home in Airdrie Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were called to the Sunridge neighbourhood around 3:30 p.m. and when they arrived the house was completely engulfed.

Ken Hubbard, Airdrie’s assistant fire chief tells 660News they have started a preliminary investigation. Officials will be back on the scene Thursday morning, working with the insurance company and RCMP.

Two neighbouring homes were damaged in the blaze.

A pet was safely rescued from the burning home.
