It appears the majority of pieces at the Museum of the High River will be salvaged.
Early Wednesay morning a blaze broke out, causing smoke and water damage to some of the 8,000 historical pieces in the collection.
The facility’s curator Irene Kerr tells 660News, about 95 per cent of the items will be fine.
The artifacts are now being moved out of the building to an offsite facility to be assessed and sorted.
She adds the nearly 100-year-old building itself will need some repairs, including to the roof, but structually it appears to be fine.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
