Local highways are going to be busy this weekend, with people getting away for a little rest and relaxation.
Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP officers will be stepping up their patrols trying to make sure people are following the rules of the road.
RCMP Sgt. Dave Hardy tells 660News unfortunately, long weekends usually bring with them problems on the roads.
“We’ll be targeting enforcement in the areas of speed, seatbelt usage, impaired driving and all the aspects of aggressive driving,” he says.
Almost 3,000 tickets were given out over the May 24th long weekend this year.
