Alberta man drowns in Shuswap

It has been a tragic long weekend for an Alberta family vacationing at B.C.’s Shuswap Lake.

They were forced to watch helplessly as a 26-year-old man, who’d been working on a boat, fell into the water and drowned.

RCMP tell The Calgary Sun he’d been conducting maintenance Friday morning on a speedboat moored about nine or ten metres offshore near Magna Bay in Chase, B.C.

Witnesses say he appeared to be in medical distress before he fell into the water.

Bystanders dove in to try to find him but it was too late.

Police haven’t released yet where he was from in Alberta.
