Officer resigns as sentencing looms

A city cop has handed in his resignation papers almost two years after being charged with child luring.

Randann Scott Sargent was charged in June 2009, after he was discovered talking to what he thought was a 17-year-old girl, by an undercover Edmonton police officer.

Calgary Police Association president John Dooks tells 660News this single case wont sour the public’s trust in the police.

Sargent was placed on unpaid suspension over a year ago. He’s expected to learn his sentence October 15th.
