You can now go online to find out how much forest fire smoke is drifting over the Calgary area.
Alberta and B.C. have teamed up to launch a smoke forecasting website, “To ensure that residents in both provinces have the information they need during fire season,” said Ogho Ikhalo, with Alberta Environment. “Albertans have always been concerned with wildfire smoke in the community and now they can get daily updates and daily forecasts on line.”
It’s the first of its kind in Canada and will be used by health agencies to help decide if advisories need to be issued during times of heavy smoke.
Right now the website shows one area with high concentrations of wood smoke particulate just south of Calgary.
