A 39 year-old man from Calgary is dead after an accident on Mount Kidd.
On Saturday, two men were scrambling and one stepped onto a ledge to have his picture taken.
The cornice gave away, causing an avalanche that carried the man down several hundred feet.
RCMP Sergeant Patrick Webb tells 660News they are still trying to recover the body.
“In this situation so much depends on the weather, number one, being able to get in with the helicopter but also the nature of the terrain. It’s very difficult to hike up to it or even to get in because of the danger of the avalanche continuing,” he says.
The name of the victim is not being released.
